So You Wanna Make a Porno?

Amateur porn is hot, and more popular than ever! Have you ever been curious? Fantasized about filming yourself? Is your sex so great, it would be a mistake not to record it? Homemade porn is a sexy, fun experience, but like most things it can be a bit more difficult than it looks. That’s why I’m here: to give you some pointers on how to get the most out of your filming.

Get comfortable!

Spend some time alone and with your partner learning what angles, lingerie, and sex acts you feel sexiest in. You and your co-star are probably feeling a bit nervous, and that’s totally normal. Talk about what turns you on about this idea, what acts you want to catch on film, and your ideas for setting, framing, etc. Watch some homemade porn together to get a feel for what can be expected. It might seem like all this mental preparation will lessen the “mood,” but a little planning goes a long way here! Trust me, I’m a professional.

Choose what you’re going to film with.

Smartphones and DSLR cameras are popular choices for newbies, and the more cameras you have, the better. For example, you can set your smartphone on a tripod (or at least a stable, flat surface) at the corner of your bed, and then your partner(s) phone from a different angle. That way, as you move around (and out of the frame on one camera) during sex, you’ll still be able to see the action. There are a lot of ways to do this, so get creative! Always film horizontally.

Lighting is important.

Good lighting will make or break your project. It’s a complicated subject, but getting some lamps from around your house and pointing them towards the ceiling, or mimicking a professional 3 point lighting setup, should be enough to get you started. Your eyes can adjust to low lighting much better than a smartphone or DSLR camera, so it’s crucial not to skip this step.

Basic editing skills will polish your porno.

You probably have some bits at the beginning and end that are too long, or maybe some weird angles in the middle that aren’t flattering or engaging. That’s to be expected. You can fix this simply by cutting the unwanted seconds out on most extremely basic (and free!) editing software.

Making porn is fun, and while there are tons of tips online (like this article!), you will learn the most by trying it out and seeing what works for you. The first few homemade pornos I ever made were rewarding and sexy, but I definitely have improved over time. One of the most important tips of all I could give you is to go into this with an open mind, realistic expectations, and of course: super turned on. Have an awesome time, and feel free to tweet me over at @YouPornGirl if you have any questions :)

Xoxo,
